To use an application that uses API functions, follow the steps below.
1. Start GP-Pro EX and create a new project file. |

2. Connect the display unit to a computer |
For USB cables that can be used for transfer, refer to the following. 34.2 Transferring Project Files via USB Transfer Cable Proceed to Step 3 if you want to transfer without connecting the display unit using a USB cable, LAN cable etc. |
3. Transfer project files to the display unit |

4. Confirm that there is communication between the connected device/PLC and the display unit. |
Refer to each manufacturer's Device/PLC connection manual regarding the PLC connection cable. |
5. Start the Launcher, and configure the unit as necessary. |
Refer to the "SP5000 Series Open Box Reference Manual". You can download the manual from the Pro-face support site (http://www.pro-face.com/trans/en/manual/1001.html). |
6. Configure the programming application using the API, and then create your program. |
This is the same as using user applications on the IPC Series. Refer to Steps 5 onwards. 38.5.1 Procedure - Retrieve WinGP information or Operate WinGP from user application However, the Visual Basic 6.0 sample programs do not work on the SP5000 Series. |
7. Set up the created user application on the display unit |

8. Start the application on the display unit. |
The method for starting the application is the same as for WinGP on the IPC Series. |
