7.6.1 Procedure - Connecting Multiple Display Units to One Device/PLC (Ethernet Multilink)

Display Unit Settings

To use the Ethernet Multilink feature, Ethernet settings such as the IP address and port number must be set up on each display unit.

  1. Switches to offline mode.

  2. From [Main Unit Settings], touch [Ethernet Local Settings] to set up the IP address.

GP-Pro EX Settings (Master Display Unit)

  1. From the [Project] menu, select [System Settings] and [Display Unit], then click the [Extended Settings] tab.

  2. From [Ethernet Multilink Settings], select the [Enable Ethernet Multilink] check box.

  3. From [Action Mode], select [Master].

    • When you want to limit the slave units you can communicate with from the master display unit, click [Filtering] and enter the IP addresses of slave display units whose connections are allowed. (For example, 192.168.0.10)

  4. Create screen data and transfer it to the display unit.

GP-Pro EX Settings (Slave Display Unit)

  1. From the [Project] menu, select [System Settings] and [Display Unit], then click the [Extended Settings] tab.

  2. From [Ethernet Multilink Settings], select the [Enable Ethernet Multilink] check box.

  3. From [Action Mode], select [Slave].

    • When the GP-Viewer EX feature is enabled, you cannot select the [Slave] option. From the [System Settings], [Display Unit], [Remote Viewer] tab, disable [Remote Viewer].

  4. In the [Master IP Address] field, enter the the IP address of the master display unit. (For example, 192.168.0.1)

  5. Create screen data and transfer it to the display unit.

    • You cannot use Ethernet Multilink to connect a device/PLC that is not supported by the slave display unit. For the device/PLCs supported by display units, see the Pro-face home page's "Pro-face Device Configurator".
