Precautions for disk
expansion |
|
Applicable
Models |
Models
with Windows XP Embedded (CF card
type) |
|
|
When an expansion disk (a hard disk,
CF card, PCMCIA, USB memory, etc.) is added to the model with
preinstalled Windows XP Embedded (CF card type), we recommend
taking the following procedure (for the setting of write
caching).
Even if the data writing to the expansion
disk looks finished on the screen, some access is still active
in the OS. Therefore, if the power is turned off at the
moment, the data may be damaged. Making a setting to disable
write caching mitigates the damage.
Important |
- |
There are two types of write caches: one is
used in the OS, and the other is used in the
expansion disk. There are some disks in which the
cache setting cannot be made. |
- |
While write caching is disabled, the writing
performance may be decreased. |
- |
Disable the EWF (Write Filter) prior to making
the cache setting. We recommend enabling the
EWF (Write Filter) again after the setting is
done. |
