With the SP5000 Series Open Box, in addition to running GP-Pro EX projects and communicating with devices/PLCs, you can also run your own applications built using API functions.
Other applications and dedicated utilities such as the Launcher are also installed on the Open Box, allowing use of a wide variety of functions linked to project files.
This chapter mainly introduces how to create and transfer project files for the Open Box, as well as how to create and execute applications using API functions.
After you download to the display unit a project set up with functions that use the backup memory, please do not change the configuration of the network adapter*1.
The next time WinGP starts up, the box module's backup memory is initialized. As needed, back up the data on the backup memory on to external storage beforehand.
*1 On the display unit, from the [Control Panel] open [Network and Sharing Center], and then select [Change adapter settings].
The API functions that can be used and examples of other operations that are possible are the same as the IPC Series. For more details, please refer to the following. References to "CF Card" apply to "SD/CFast Card".

The Launcher is a utility that displays icons of files, programs, and settings that you designate in advance. It allows for convenient touch-screen operation. You can also customize the Launcher by adding your favorite programs and deleting/moving programs.
Refer to the "SP5000 Series Open Box Reference Manual" regarding how to operate the specific utilities for the Launcher etc. You can download the manual from the Pro-face support site (http://www.pro-face.com/trans/en/manual/1001.html).
