If the GP-Viewer EX installation path is longer than 80 single-byte characters, an error message displays indicating GP-Viewer EX cannot start because its install path is too long. Please reinstall GP-Viewer EX to an installation path less than 80 single-byte characters.
You cannot install different versions of GP-Viewer EX on one computer.
If you input the wrong key code, the key code will not be set. Input the correct key code.
If you do not input key codes, the GP-Viewer EX trial version starts up.
When connecting to the display unit without setting up key codes in GP-Viewer EX, the GP-Viewer EX trial version starts up.
Up to three units of GP-Viewer EX can access the display unit at the same time. However, depending on the load, the display unit may not support three GP-Viewer connections. Please wait and try again. If you cannot connect on several attempts, consider looking at the design of the system.
Regardless of the number of connected display units, you can display up to four windows of GP-Viewer EX on one computer.
When starting GP-Viewer EX or clicking the update button, the display unit and GP-Viewer EX display the same alarm information. Subsequent alarm summary displays may differ between the two, because the display unit and GP-Viewer EX monitor the alarm information independently, depending on their communication speeds
Because the display unit's external storage and GP-Viewer EX's virtual external storage are not directly synchronized, GP-Viewer EX cannot save alarm information.
When the sampling frequency is short, or the timing for turning ON sampling's [Full Bit Address] is shorter than the timing for refreshing GP-Viewer EX, the GP-Viewer EX screen and display unit screen will be different because the system is unable to get the XY Historical Scatter Graph's show/hide information in time.
For errors that are automatically restored, such as communication errors with a connected device/PLC, the display unit may erase the error but the error remains in GP-Viewer EX. To remove the error, either change screens or click the Close button [x] in the system menu.
When multiple errors are triggered at the same time, depending on the timing of when errors are received, all the errors may not display.
As the screen does not rotate, the display unit does not support portrait orientation.
Because a computer and display unit have different file systems, files on external storage are read in different orders. Therefore, the file listing feature displays the files in a different order than a computer.
When using symbol variables with a bit address type, symbol variables with any element number other than 0 will result in an error on GP-Viewer EX.
When writing to the following addresses in GP-Viewer EX, the value is written to GP-Viewer EX's #H_ChangeScreenNo system variable, regardless of the screen mode.
[#INTERNAL]LS0008 (Direct Access Method)
[#MEMLINK]0015 (Memory Link Method)
System Data Area's [Change-To Screen] address
In synchronous mode, GP-Viewer EX writes to and reads from the display unit address. However, writes to and reads from GP-Viewer EX addresses for system variables and clock data.
In asynchronous mode, GP-Viewer EX writes to and reads from GP-Viewer EX addresses. However, writes to and reads from the display unit for the following addresses.
In the [System Settings] window's [Device/PLC] page, when Indirect Devices are set up, internal device addresses (LS area/USR area) other than the [Device ID Address]
Device/PLC addresses other than the System Data Area's [Change-To Screen] address
In Asynchronous Mode, instead of using internal devices*1, control the Global Window using system variables*2.

If Operation Lock is enabled in the display unit, the connected GP-Viewer EX will display the IP address of the location of the Operation Lock source.
If the display unit has multiple LAN ports as shown below, the IP address of any one of the multiple Ethernet settings is shown. Therefore, an IP address different from the actual IP address GP-Viewer EX communicates with may be shown.
When using SP5000 Series
When using EZ LAN Adapter with GP4000 Series models with a LAN port (excluding GP-410*)
To check which models support EZ LAN Adapter, refer to the following.
1.5 Supported Features
When connecting GP-Viewer EX to a display unit that is using Pro-Server EX's remote password feature, register the GP-Viewer EX installed PC as a node in the Pro-Server EX network project and transfer it to the connected display unit.
Communication will not be possible with a display unit if GP-Viewer EX is not registered as a node.
Select [Pro-Server EX] for the node type.
If using Pro-Server EX's remote password feature and Ethernet multilink at the same time, register a slave display unit as a node in the Pro-Server EX network project and transfer it to the Master display unit.
Communication is not possible with the Master display unit if the slave display unit is not registered as a node.
It is not necessary to transfer the network project to the slave display unit.
On the hand-held GP, even if you set the [Operation Switch] to [Enable], regardless of the operation switch's status, operations are possible from GP-Viewer EX.
You can use the system variables below when the [Use Gateway Mode] check box is selected. Regardless of the Synchronous/Asynchonous settings in GP-Viewer EX, these are always synchronized.
